Osun United Football Club

Osun United Football Club is a national football league in Oshogbo town of Osun State of Nigeria. This team was founded in 1996 under Hon. Aderibigbe I. Faramade who was their chairman. The team was formerly known as Prime Football Club (FC) of Osogbo; however, it was renamed in January 2017 as Osun United FC with the nickname Omoluabi Giants.

Prime FC was been handled by the Oshogbo local government after its origination, during the month of December 2012, the team was taken by the state government from the former owner which is Oshogbo LG according to the eagle online news. Osun United Football Club uses Oshogbo Stadium as a home ground for their national matches, training, competitions and related soccer.

The league was initiated known with the state's capital; notwithstanding, the state governor of Osun Gov. Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola made it clear in his statement that the purpose of renaming the football club was to give it a state identity. This was clearly reported by vanguard in their editorial news of 6th January 2017.

The team has series of historical statistics from the recorded success during their several competitions with other national leagues. They have been winning in the series of football competition between them and Omoloju Boys of Abeokuta.

Osun United is a talented football team that has also made sequences of defeat and win records since their creation. Football match between the Osun State Football Club and Sunshine FC at Dipo-Dina Stadium Oshogbo marked one of their recorded defeats.

Osun State Commissioner for Sports, Mr Biyi Odunlade thereafter gave his speech while addressing a press conference in Oshogbo stating that the referee was biased in his conduct which finally resulted to violence on players and fans of Osun United FC.
